How to try it
If you are someone with Parkinson's disease who has episodes of
freezing, first experiment with your response to real cues in a
safe environment. Have a helper with you.
For visual cues try making regular stripes on the floor with sticky
tape and then try walking over them. However, you may respond to
audio cues instead and some people find they walk better to the
rhythm of a metronome or a favourite piece of music.
There is plenty of information about these methods available today.
For information in English there is a free factsheet called "Freezing"
available from the UK Parkinson's Disease Society.
Parkwalker has not been released on to the market yet. However,
if you find you respond strongly to visual cues and live in Germany,
Italy, Greece or the United Kingdom we would love to hear from you
and we may be able to arrange for you to try a Parkwalker device.
